Application

XLPE insulated power cable is used to transmit and distribute power for the power transmission and distribution system of 35kV or lower. It is generally applied in the fields of power, construction, mine, metallurgy, petrochemical industry and communication. It completely replaces the oil immersed paper insulated power cable and partiallyreplaces the PVC insulated power cable.

Construction

-Conductor: Solid or stranded copper.
-Insulation: Cross-linked polyethylene( XLPE or PVC).
-Circuit Identication: The insulation shall be red, black. 
-Filler: Polypropylene lament with lapped binding tape. 
-Inner Sheath: Polyvinyl chloride (Black).
-Armor: Galvanized steel wire/ double steel tape.
-Core-covering: Binding tape. 
-Outer Sheath: Polyvinyl chloride (Black). 

Standard of xlpe insulated electric cable

The products are mainly complying with iec 60502 standard, also can be produced according to OEM requirements and other standards, such as bs standard, din standard, ASTM standard, etc.

  
Installation of xlpe insualted electric cable 
This cable can be installed in duct, tray or direct burial. It is recommended that the installation instructions indicated by the Local Electric Code, or any equivalent, be followed,so that the safeguarding of persons and the integrity of the product will not be affected by eciencies in the installation. 

Voltage grade is from 0.6/1KV upto 35KV

Cross-section area can reach 400mm2.

Conductor long-time operating temperature is 90 degrees.

In short circuit, conductor highest temperature should be not more than 250 degrees.

1. What is the difference between XLPE cable and PVC cable? 

PVC – Poly Vinyl chloride ; XLPE – Cross linked Poly Ethylene

PVC :  thermo plastic ;  XLPE: thermosetting plastic. 

PVC can withstand temperatures up to 70°C ; XLPE can do 90°C.

PVC costs lower with large market, XLPE costs higher with smaller market.
