Brief Introduction for types of underground cables
PVC/XLPE types of underground cables is used for transmit and distribute power in power transmission and distribution system of 35kV or lower. It is generally applied to the fields including power, construction, mines, metallurgy, petrochemical industry .
Description for types of underground cables
Conductor: Solid or stranded copper
Insulation: Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) or Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
Filler: Polypropylene filament with lapped binding tape
Binder: Binding tape
Inner sheath: Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
Amour: Galvanized steel wire armored(SWA) or steel tape armored(STA)
Sheath: Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
Application conditions for types of underground cables
1. The long-time permissible operation temperature of conductor shall not be higher than 70oC.
2. Conductor maximum short circuit (not more than 5 s) temperature shall not be higher than 160 oC.
3. The power cable is not limited by drop in level when being laid, and the ambient temperature shall not be lower than 0 oC.If so, the cable should to be preheated.
4. Perfect chemical stability, resistant against acids, alkalis, grease and organic solvents, and flame.
Operational performance for types of underground cables
1.installation temperature:≥0°C
2. long-term permissible operation temperature≤90°C
3.Under the condition of short circuit (the max. continuing time should not exceeding 5 seconds) the max. operation temperature:250°C
4.minimum bending radius:
single-core cable: 20D, mm
multicore cable: 15D, mm
5. Suitable areas :
Direct burial in the ground and the capacity of bearing certain mechanical force, not proper in the pipeline
