AMPACITY IN AMPERES:
Calculated for a conductor temperature of 75 ºC, ambient temperature 25 ºC, emissivity of 0.5, wind of 0.61 m/sec. and with sun effect (1033 watts/m2).
ACAR Applications:
The bare aluminum conductors reinforced with aluminum alloy type ACAR (Aluminum Conductor Alloy Reinforced) are used for transmission and distribution lines of electric power. These conductors offer good tension strength and an excellent ratio tensile stress – weight, for the design of these lines when so much the ampacity as the mechanical strength are critical factors to be considered in the same one. The aluminum alloy core of these conductors is available in diverse stranding, according to the wanted tensile stress. Also to equal weight, the ACAR conductor offer bigger mechanical strength and ampacity that the A.C.S.R.
ACAR Specifications:
The conductors of bare aluminum ACAR manufactured by ELECTROCABLES C.A., meets the following specifications and standards:
- ASTM B-230: Aluminum Wire 1350-H19 for Electrical Purposes.
- ASTM B-398: Aluminum Alloy Wires 6201-T81 for Electrical Purposes.
- ASTM B-524: Aluminum Conductor, Concentric-Lay-Stranded, Aluminum Alloy Reinforced, ACAR, 1350/6201.
ACAR Construction:
The bare aluminum conductor type ACAR are concentrically stranded with wires of alloy 1350-H19, on an aluminum alloy core that can be a wire, or several wires or a cable of aluminum alloy 6201-T81. Their packaging is in reels in length according to the client's necessities.
