Aluminum Copper SER Service Entrance TYPE R Cable Specification:
Aluminum copper SER cable is primarily used as panel feeder in multiple unit dwellings and for branch circuits. Maximum operating temperature is not to exceed 90°C in wet locations. Voltage rating is 600 volts.
Conductors:
Aluminum copper SER cable has a compact strand soft drawn 8000 series aluminum conductor, per ASTM B-801
Insulation:
Aluminum copper SER cable has a type XHHW-2 cross linked polyethylene (XLP) insulation. The conductors are cabled together with a bare copper ground and covered with a reinforced binder tape. For color code, see table B in technical section.
Jacket:
Aluminum copper SER cable has a gray sunlight resistance polyvinyl chloride (PVC) jacket.
Standards:
- Ampacities based on National Electric Code, 2005 edition, section 310-15
- 60°C when terminated to equipment for circuits rated 100amps or less or marked for 14ga through 1ga conductors
- 70°C when terminated to equipment for circuits rated over 100amps or marked for conductors larger than 1ga
- 90°C wet or dry locations
- For dwelling units, conductors shall be permitted at listed Ampacities to be utilized as 120/240 volt, 3-wire, single phase service
- conductors that supply the total load

Aluminum copper SER / SEU Cable Applications:
-SER cable is used as an above ground service entrance cable, a panel feeder and in branch circuits. The cable is rated at 600 volts and 90°C for use in wet and dry locations. SER cables are LEAD FREE and RoHS compliant.
-SEU cable is primarily used underground as panel feeder in multiple unit dwellings and for branch circuits. Maximum operating temperature is not to exceed 90°C in wet locations. Voltage rating is 600 volts.
Aluminum copper SER / SEU Cable Construction:
Conductor – Compact stranded AA-8000 series aluminum alloy (ACM) per ASTM B801 or B836. Features solid AA-8000 series aluminum alloy (ACM) per ASTM B800.
Insulation – Color coded cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE).
Assembly – Insulated conductors are cabled with the bare ground wire. A flame retardant fiberglass reinforced binder tape assembles the core in a circular configuration.
Jacket – Sunlight resistant, LEAD FREE, flame retardant, gray polyvinyl chloride (PVC) material.
