Application

For Underground Cable 6.6kV 35kV 120mm2 185mm2 240mm2 XLPE Insulated Power Cable,either chemical method or physical method is employed to transform the molecular structure of PE from chain into three-dimensional network, i.e. thermo-plastic PE is transformed into thermosetting XLPE.

The Rated Voltage(kV):

1st class 0.6/1 1.8/3 3.6/6 6/10 8.7/15 12/20 18/30 21/35 2nd class 1/1 3/3 6/6 8.7/10 12/15 18/20 – 26/35

Operating Characteristic:

Max: short-circuit temperature of conductor shall not exceed 250°C(5s maximum duration):

Cross section of conductor≤300mm2 160°C

Cross section of conductor>300mm2 140°C

The ambient temperature under installation of cable should not below 0°C

The bending radius of cable should not less than 10 times of diameter of the cable.

Construction OF Cu/XLPE/SWA/PVC Armoured 3 Core Power Cable :

Conductor:
Plain circular compacted copper or aluminium conductor, according to IEC 60228.

Conductor Screen:
Extruded semi-conductive compound.

Insulation:
Extruded XLPE rated cross-linked dry curing (triple cross head).

Insulation Screen:
Non-metallic part: Extruded semi-conductive compound.Colour narrow tape for each core under metallic screen for identification.

Metallic Screen:
Copper tape and /or copper wires for each core to achieve screen area to withstand short circuit current.

Assembly;
The three cores are assembled together with non-hygroscopic polypropylene yarns as fillers to form compacted circular.

Inner covering:
Extruded PVC as bedding under armour.

Armour:
Round galvanized steel wires armour (SWA) applied helically over the PVC bedding.

Outer Sheath:
Black or red protective jacket PVC or PE corrosion and sunlight resistant. The cables are designed and tested according to IEC specification standard IEC 60228, 60502-2 and 60811.

3. The highest allowed operating temperature of conductor for long-term working is 90oC. In short-circuit (Max. long-term is no more than 5 seconds). The highest temperature for conductor is no more than 250℃.

4. D.C. resistance of the conductor complies with the stipulations of 3.6/6kV, 6/10kV(11kV), 12/20kV(24kV), 19/33kV, 26/35kV(35kV).

5. The environment temperature should be no lower than 0oC when lay. Otherwise it should be preheated.

6. The cable is laid without horizontal drop limit.

7. Working Frequency Voltage Test: 3.5Uo/5min without puncture.

8. Partial Discharge Test: The discharge volume should be no more than 10pC under 1.73Uo for the cable.

9. Minimum Bending Radius

Single core – Fixed: 15 x overall diameter

Three core – Fixed: 12 x overall diameter

(Single core 12 x overall diameter and 3 core 10 x overall diameter where bands are positioned adjacent to joint or terminations provided that the bending is carefully controlled by the use of a former)

Note:The single core armoured cables are used for D.C. system only. If used for A.C. system, the magnetic isolation should be applied on the steel armoire wires of non-magnetical materials should be used.
